A lovely local little company set up and run by Jenny. They specialise in black baby grows, black sleepsuits and black playsuits – all ethically produced from soft GOTS certified organic cotton jersey. Blackwear for baby's and toddlers.

Aware that black isn't for everyone, Jenny sent me a medium sized black baby grow for Séraphine to try.

My first reaction was that it looked super smart, very soft to touch and a rather fitted shape. Beautifully packaged with tissue paper and ribbon, a lovely little ethical magazine for Lydia to read and the tags telling you more about the product origins etc...

 

The crossover neckline reminds me of a ballerina, very cute. Also available in envelope neckline if preferred.

I managed to get it on my chunky baby, 9.5mths old at the time, however as soon as she moved the poppers came undone as she was just to chunky for the fit of it. She definitely needs a large!

So... I sent it to my diddy god son to review for us.

Teamed with the white cord from his dressing-gown and a TV remote, he was transformed into a ninja!

Both Silas and his mummy were very impressed with the quality, fit and feel of the suit. Silas always suits darker colours, so Baby Black it the brand for him!

 

I find the price to be rather expensive for just one suit, £18 each. I know you pay for what you get with the quality of excellent material that's ethically sourced. However baby's grow so quickly that i wonder how much value for money you'd get out of it? Definitely consider buying as a one off special gift.

Supernatural Kids Clothing

Jenny sent an age 2-3 raspberry pink/black hoodie dress, for Lydia to try.

Lydia was so excited about a dress with a hood that she instantly stripped off to put it on! Lydia is a tallish, fussy 2.5yr old that knows what she likes.

 

 

Again, it was really soft to touch. You can feel the quality.

Lydia found the wrist cuffs rather tight, she couldn't push the sleeves up her arm to 3/4 them. She also disliked how open the neckline was, she asked for a top to wear underneath so her "boobies" weren't showing.... Hahaha.

Another thing i noticed about it is that the crossover panel is visible and curls up underneath the top layer of fabric. This was slightly irritating Lydia's tummy before she put a top on underneath it.

Throughout the day of her wearing it she was constantly adjusting the neckline, as it kept slipping off alternate shoulders. I think it neckline could have a few extra stitches in it so its not as gaping wide, alternatively just go for the envelope neckline option.

The dress is fab to team with leggings, jeggings or jeans.

Review & Competition: Eternal Creation - Summer outfit set

Eternal Creation - Ethical fashion from the Himalayas

Frances started the company in 1999 with the aim of producing quality women's sleepwear and accessories, after the birth of her two children she started designing and making children's clothing. All made under fair labour conditions with locally sourced materials to work with.

Frances won the magazine 'House&Garden' award for Woman with drive.

All items are made by local people and tailors. Each item is individually made to order.

My package arrived in a fabric envelope rather than paper, and inside my item was wrapped in a plastic bag to stop it getting dirty. I found the bag envelope quite hard to open, i had to use scissors and  and it had a funny smell about it. I feel if they used just one jiffy type of bag then they'd save more and be more ethical than using the fabric and plastic? I know this is something they're working on to improve.

The customer service was really friendly and helpful with all my enquiries, and the parcel arrived quickly considering where it has come from and had to go through customs etc...

The outfit we chose is the two piece set KD846 in the 'Desert Flower' print. An Embroidered cotton voile top with spaghetti straps, full back opening and matching knickers.

It is so pretty down to the very last detail. Beautiful flower buttons, embroidered flowers on the top, a dainty ribbon on the chest and knickers with tiny bead detailing and cute little ruffles at the cuff of the knickers.

Matching items are also available in this print. You could complete the outfit with a lovely matching headscarf.

Lydia is a 27.5lb 18mth old, we picked size 24mths. This was the perfect fit with room to grow. I was very pleased that the knickers were made baggy enough to allow room for a cloth nappy, and have enough fabric at the back not to give Lydia a builders bum.

The top is very floaty and cool to wear, perfect for a hot summers day and baggy enough to team up with something warmer underneath and some jeans for a pretty autumn look.

The outfit washes really well with no fabric discolouration, fading or shrinkage.

The elastic on the legs in un-covered and left marks on Lydia's legs after wearing, i found it had dug in/rubbed a little whilst she was in the buggy. Maybe a strip of fabric could just cover it over, or you could turn the hem up as its cuff instead? She wasn't in pain from it and it wasn't tight on her.

The knickers are long enough to wear as shorts and team up with other items, such as a plain coloured t-shirt/vest top. They do make me giggle a bit as they puff ball out slightly and remind me of Nora Batty's bloomers! But in a cute baby way, not like granny gear! lol

Things are changing....

        

My beautiful girls :)

I can't help but feel sad, happy and scared all at the same time.

I am (always have been) a terrible worrier, now ask my friends and they'd say i am bubbly, confident and positive. Only a few people know the 'real' me, the side thats easily hurt and upset, the part of me that constantly worries and wants everything to be perfect.

Yes i usually do and say what i like, but i do worry what people think about me, what will happen to me and where i will end up.

This pregnancy has caused a whole new MASSIVE batch of hormones, a fresh batch of bitchyness, moanyness and unhappyness. Not to mention the heartburn, back ache and stress from a very tetchy toddler.

I do love being pregnant again, its great. So different from with Lydia, this time i am worring about moving, money and how all of this will effect Lydia. She is amazing and hugs my belly saying ''Baby'' then kisses it :)

I've been upset about how she will feel, how she will adapt to moving (if we ever move!?!)

Everyone tells me to relax and take it easy.

How can i!?! I have a toddler who acts like a teenager and i'm really stressed out on top of trying to remain ''normal'' to function in everyday life and move.

I wish someone would just come along and sort it all out for me. Someone to assure me Lydia will be fine, its just a phase afterall, someone to get me a new flat and sort out all the shit that comes with moving, someone to give me a wonderfull massage and a day off from everything.

But, i don't believe in god and miracles just don't happen to me.

Rant over and otherwise i am really happy. I have a beautiful happy daughter and she has a sister on her way. I always wanted a sister so she's getting what i always wanted, which is lovely :)

And i've managed to make the baby a few things for when she arrives. A soft play cube, hand stiched with a jingle bell inside. And a sock cat! Meiow....

I have always thought that i would'nt dress my two girls exactly the same. Maybe the same outfit/top but in different colours. However i have printed a vest each for the girls to wear, matching! :)

I've also brought two t-shirts, one each, Lydia's will say 'Big sister' and baby's will say 'Little sister' :) Yey!!!

Review: Organix, Toddler's Mighty Meals

We received an email from Sarah at Organix asking if we'd like to try their new toddler's dinner range, 'Mighty Meals'. She described the fives different types to us and i was very pleased to see that two of them are gluten and wheat free, being Coeliac its just what my household has to eat!

Its great to see the variety of something for everyone with the four main meats and a veggie option. Meals like these are often not free from for allergy sufferers so this was very exciting for us!

We received the Pork Meatballs and the Spinach Falafel dinners. Both looked great straight away, a great picture on the front which makes them look homemade and yummy! I love the little fork symbol at the top with the suggested age range, 1-3.

I think the portion size (200g) is just right for the age range, giving the older child other things to eat if needed. My 17mth old Lydia would eat all of this and want a yoghurt afterwards, she loves her pud!

Saying that Lydia was not interested in eating these on the two days i tried :( She's been teething and has been rather funny with anything besides yoghurt!

First we tried the Pork Meatball's in a tomatoey chickpea & sweet potato sauce

Lydia usually loves things that have a bit of pork in, with this she was happy to nibble on a meatball but didn't like the chickpeas in the sauce, once she had bitten one of them she refused to eat anymore of any of it! That was only on meatball one :(

If she wasn't in such a tetchy mood with her teething I'm sure she would've allowed me to pick out the meatballs for her to eat separately. But she was being fussy so me and daddy shared it! It was really tasty, she missed out! lol

I did find the sauce was quite dry, which is probley what she didn't like. Its the dryness of the chickpeas, so maybe a bit more tomato sauce is needed? Or you could swap the chickpeas for a more softer bean? (baked beans maybe? yummy!)

Next it was the Spinach Falafel in beany sweet red pepper sauce

Another gorgeous meal for my fussy not wanting to eat toddler to try. This time she dove in to the sauce first, chewed a bean and spat it out :( Then refused to have anything more to do with it. Again i think it was the dryness of the beans, but that's my toddler's fussiness and not the foods fault! Just have a drink with you.

This meal is the vegetarian option in the 'Mighty Meals' range, and i think it is gorgeous! I love falafel, so to try a spinach falafel was great. I'd be happy to buy this for myself as lunch!

Lovely bite-size balls for adults to eat (like the pork meatballs) but i feel they need cutting in half for the younger of the eaters out their.

A very well rounded meal with delicious flavours. And Lydia will be trying these two again once she's feeling better from teething :(

However Lydia did love playing robots with the cardboard sleeve packaging....

... funny child of mine!

Two teenagers already!?!

I am now 18.4wks pregnant and Lydia is 16mths old, two teenagers!

I've got another two scans booked for the 21st of June and the 24th of June, hopefully they'll be able to tell the sex of bambino. Everyone has said to me they think its a boy, we will see (hopefully). We're not fussed either way, they only difference will be the expense if its a boy! We still have all of Lydia's old stuff so another girl would be sorted for everything!!!

I've got two scans because Brighton and Worthing both want to do their own. Worthing is where i am booked into have the birth, a water birth hopefully. And Brighton want me to stay on their records in case i can't make it Worthing on time.

The water pool tour has been booked, that's in September :)

Lydia has been rubbing my belly and saying 'baby, aww'. She also offers to give a kiss or cuddle to me or daddy, not very often but still. And she is such a chatter box, things she says like 'in there', 'rubbish', 'dog', 'shoes', 'bag' etc... And yesterday she copied me and said 'Oh shit', whoopsie! I really need to watch what i say now, cheeky little madam.

We found another play group to go to, its for 0-5yrs which means i can go with the both of them once bambino arrives. The only thing is it doesn't run during term time, but not many do :( Boo!

Its at the Calvary church by the fire station, i was surprised at how big it is inside as it looks tiny from the outside. The group is run by a lovely lady, Katy i think? Now i didn't realise but it is actually a christian group and we're not religious, but there is no harm in going and Lydia is to young to understand anything like that anyway. She can make up her own mind on religion when she's old enough to.

We've only been the once at the moment as of term time, but intend to keep going from now on. Hopefully make a few friends for Lydia and myself :) One lady who i was talking to is also pregnant (with a boy) and due at the end of august, she already has a 2yr old girl.

And a few of the other mums had a couple of children, i was asking them for tips about having a baby and a toddler, so that will be useful :)

Lydia learnt how to go up the stairs and down the slide all by herself, yey!

We've been doing a few indoors activity's to lately. Like painting, drawing and dressing up!

I've learnt how to use my new wrap slings, been practising baby holds with teddy bears and the rucksack back carry with Lydia....

And I've been making lots of things again, mostly recycled old t-shirts into new clothes for Lydia....

If only she'd keep still long enough for me to take a picture! Cushion was made from an old dressing gown, sock bunny from one of Lydia's baby socks and some off cuts, stripy dress from an old t-shirt and green dress was an old vest top of mine :)

Right i best be off now, Lydia is asking for a 'nana' (banana) and i myself am rather hungry to!

Review: Stardust T-shirt ~ Rags for Rascals!

Geraldine over a Stardust HQ sent us a beautiful top for Lydia. 

I call the top 'Moriss Hepburn' as the cat looks like my old cat with an Audrey Hepburn hair do! The design was instantly appealing to us both, as Lydia and i both love cats and i am a fan of Audrey.

It arrived beautifully packaged in a white paper shopping bag, white tissue paper and a really cool sticker. We opened it to find the t-shirt very neatly folded with a funky tag on.

Lydia instantly grabbed it off me saying 'Cat!' and attempted to dress herself in the t-shirt, then she realised the print was shiny and had glitter in so she was stroking it saying 'Wow' and smiling :)

Cool Toddler Clothes : Audrey Cat T-Shirt, is its real name and where to find it.

Sized from 0-6mths right up to 11-12yrs, we went for fuchsia in aged 1-2yrs. Lydia is 16mths and quite heavy, however this t-shirt was the right size for her with enough room to grow.

I was very pleased to see that the age 1-2yrs top was still classed as a 'baby' size and therefore has poppers on the left shoulder this allowed for easy dressing of my fidget bum toddler.

Priced at £14.99 i found was a bit steep to be buying them as everyday wear. They're more as a one off present or treat, but for the quality and individuality it is worth it.

I miss you....

I Miss my boobie baby, i have even had a dream in which she comes back to me. She's so grown up and independent now that its hard to imagine that just over 2months ago she was with me all the time, having boobie and hugging me.

Sometimes she pulls a face when she is sleeping that reminds me of how she used to look whilst feeding,so sweet and 'baby-like'. Now she's all toddler and girly looking, with alot of mischievous looks about her.

I know i'm going to have a new baby to feed and love, i just miss my Lydia baby. I need to realise that she's growing up and needs me less than before, i can acctually have a little time off and give her to a friend or relative for a few hours.

She has recently started to give cuddles and kisse's which is really lovely. She is always happy and smiley, unless she's throwing a wobbly!

I am planning on trying to do lots more with her, toddler clubs, swimming again and finding out new games for us to play. Some 'us' time whilst we are still a family of three.

Flat hunting is still going on, what a STRESS that is, i never knew it was so hard? Everything i find has been taken already! I've been trying not to take my stress of that, hormones, sickness, tiredness and cheeky toddler-ness out on Justin and Lydia but its difficult sometimes.



Well i'm off to play with my cheeky little madam, and to try and relax. She can still be my 'baby', she's just not 'a baby' anymore :)

Hello cheeky toddler!

Now you can walk, talk and give me attitude. Am i confusing toddlerdom with being a teenager? No, my little terror is one to watch...i dread the teenage years! Screaming at me for no reason, really loudly and high-pitched. Its really not nice, its quite upsetting :(

Lydia has certain face that she pulls when shes being cheeky, a face that melts your heart, making you want to cry also :( I've not managed to capture it on camera as yet.
She throws mega tantrums over the silliest little things. I can hear the teenager in her shouting 'I hate you' already!

Your cheeky antic's involve many things, here's a list!

• putting things in the loo (shampoo,hairbrush,toys,wrapping paper,keys etc...)
• unravelling whole loo-rolls
• pulling things out of the bin and bringing them to me
• turning the house upside down, following behind me tidying up and un-tidying it!
• standing on tubes of things, like toothpaste!?!
• throwing wooden bricks at me :(
• chewing food and spitting it out
• stealing anything and everything i am eating/drinking
• filling the washing machine up with toys/paint and generally stuff you shouldn't
• emptying her water bottle all over herself/the floor etc....

I really could go on, but the list would be endless! I was hoping it was a phase, but I've been warned it continues and turns into the terrible two's :'(

She loves going to the park, she brings us her shoes/coat if we say 'lets go to the park'. Her favorite being the slide which she find hilarious? Then the swings where she trys to grab me each time she comes forwards :)

We are still breastfeeding, nearly 14mths now. She has a morning and night-time feed :)
She did something hilarious the other night. I was feeding her for bedtime and she pulled off and looked up at me smiling, she touched my boob where a dribble of milk was and said 'Boobie' then put the same finger on my lips and said 'Yummy'. Hahaha!!! Justin nearly threw up :)

She's been talking loads and responds to the things we say/ask her. Her favorite trick is saying 'Bum-bum' when she needs a nappy change, then she pulls out her changing mat and runs away!

Right i'm off to attempt cleaning up this disasterous looking house before she wakes to wreak it all over again! :) Have a faby mother's day :) xxx

I could'nt agree more with what she has shared, so I asked her permission to copy it over for you all to read. Due to an annoymoss person who left a negative comment on this i would like to point out a few things... This is in no way,shape or form offering any kind of medical advice. This post is purely one persons positive opinion (of which i agree) on breastfeeding a toddler, showing only the pro's not the con's. "Why would anyone want to breastfeed a toddler? That's disgusting!"

And yes..that was a comment I got from someone. Unfortunately, many people share that opinion. In the United States, only 11% of babies are breastfed to 12 months. After that, the number drops even more. BUT, there are children who are breastfed. Scientists and anthropologists anticipate that the natural weaning age of humans is 2.5-7 years of age. In most cultures, children continue to enjoy the nursing relationship well past infancy.

So why on earth would someone want to breastfeed a toddler? I'll tell you......


10 Reasons Why You Should breastfeed Your Toddler

1) Convenience. Okay, call it laziness. It's easier to keep breastfeeding than to wean. Plus, nothing can put a toddler to sleep faster than a few minute on the breast. Temper tantrum? Breastfeed! And, toddlers will naturally get some lumps, bumps and scrapes. Instead of struggling to quiet the tears, just pop your toddler on the breast for a few seconds and BAM, problem solved.

2) Less of a need for a lovey. Loveys are wonderful, but they can be lost. Imagine being on a long drive and realizing you left the favorite comfort toy at home, hours away. The very thought can put the fear of God into the hearts of parents everywhere. BUT, considering it's virtually impossible to misplace a breast..... Anyway, having your child attached to you instead of an inanimate object is a HUGE perk.

3) Nutrition. No matter how old your child is, your breast milk will still be perfectly tailored to your child. Plus, toddlers are renowned for being picky. One day, they can't shovel the food in their mouths fast enough. The next day you are practically begging them to eat each bite. No problem. When they are breastfeeding, you can rest easy that they are still getting all the nutrients they need to be healthy (a real bonus when they go a whole week eating nothing but goldfish crackers and chicken nuggets).

4) Immune protection. During the second year of life, the number of antibodies in your milk goes UP. This is understandable, considering they are more mobile as toddlers; getting into everything. So, while your toddler is playing with a snotty-nosed kid, or busy cramming handfuls of sand in his mouth, or sucking on the germy shopping cart handle, you can rest easy knowing that your child will probably not get sick. BUT, if he does, he won't be as sick or sick as long as he would if he had been weaned.

5) Higher IQ. Studies are showing more and more that the longer your breastfeed, the smarter your child is. By breastfeeding into toddlerhood, you can raise your child's IQ by as much as 10 points. This is especially important for children with special needs who are "on the fence", so to speak. For these children, it can mean the difference between functioning and not functioning.

6) Better speech development. The act of breastfeeding is designed to work the muscles of the mouth and jaw that are needed for speech. It is believed that children who are breastfed have better articulation than those that aren't.

7) Preventing dehydration during illness. You know how kids are when they're sick. Forget feeding them...and even getting them to drink is a struggle. BUT, you can always get a toddler to nurse. This can mean the difference between taking them to the hospital for an IV and keeping them home and comfortable.

8) Greater independence. Our society pushes children to be independent WAY before they are ready. Breastfeeding meets your child's dependency needs. Studies prove that children who are breastfed are more independent, confident, secure and, more importantly, more securely attached to their parents. Letting your child breastfeed until he/she is ready to stop helps to foster independence.

9) Breastfeeding burns 500 calories/day without exercising or dieting. Since humans are designed to breastfeed several years, your body stores up several years worth of fat during pregnancy. Breastfeeding is the easiest way to lose the weight.

10) Breastfeeding lowers the mother's chances of getting breast cancer by, on average, 25%. The longer you breastfeed, the lower your chances are of getting breast cancer. Added bonus, breastfeeding a daughter reduces HER chances of getting breast cancer later in life as well.


It's not weird, wrong, perverted, or insane. Breastfeeding into toddlerhood is natural, healthy and extremely handy. Hopefully you will consider nursing a baby into toddlerhood, or at least giving a friend or relative encouragement when they choose to.

Review: Unbelievabowl set 9mths+

Everyone with a baby know how much fun it is to get a bowl to stay on the highchair when its meal time!
Tracey from Vital Baby wanted to help make this an easier time for me. We were sent an Unbelievabowl to review.

The Unbelievabowl is a regular child's bowl with a difference! It has a suction pad that you fit to the underneath, with a 'double click' lock you know its safe and that your baby won't be able to pick it up and throw it away. With interchangeable bowls its really easy to use it constantly without having to faff about re-doing the suction pad between courses at meal time. Finished your main? Change the bowl for pud! Easy :)

The suction pad is so strong that when i tried to pull the bowl off, the whole food tray came off with the bowl still attached to it! With much twisting and pushing down (as the instructions say to do so) I managed to get the bowl off, but the suction pad had came off with it. Luckily no food was in the bowl at the time. And now i can't re-attach the suction pad as its stuck inside the bowl, and won't budge? I think you defiantly need 'mussels from brussels' to operate it! :) This only happened once, so i don't think its a major problem.


I was amazed at the strength of the suction and the lock on the bowl.
Lydia was not happy that she couldn't grab it and throw it around, she resorted to trying to bite it off instead!

 

We tried it with some snacks first. Lydia loved picking them out one by one then putting them back. She was looking under and around the bowl, trying to figure out why it wouldn't move! So funny to watch.

I was worried that if i filled it with baby food (mush!) that she'd constantly be sticking her hands in and out of it. Not something i want to happen where we live, her highchair is in the front room as we have no separate 'dining area'. I don't think daddy would be pleased if the TV ended up wearing her lunch? hehehe.

However if you have the space to allow for much mess then go for it! We will be using ours for snacks until we get a bigger place to live :)

Its priced at £4.99 for the set of one bowl and one suction pad. This did seem a little expensive for one bowl, but its much more than just a bowl. Your buying the suction pad. And once you have this you only need some spare bowls, and a pack of two for £3.99 is very good value. (£2 a bowl!!!!) So for under £10 you'd have 3 bowls that won't budge!!!
